Yes. Natural latex has an open-cell structure with thousands of ventilation channels that promote excellent airflow and breathability. This helps dissipate heat and moisture, making it ideal for Singapore’s hot and humid climate. Unlike synthetic memory foam mattresses, natural latex does not trap body heat, helping you sleep cooler and more comfortably throughout the night.

Which method of producing latex is better, Dunlop or Talalay?

Both methods produce high-quality latex, but the Dunlop process is generally considered more environmentally friendly and requires less energy and processing. Dunlop latex is denser, firmer, and typically more durable than Talalay latex. During production, natural latex is whipped into a froth and baked in steam moulds. All dormiente mattresses are made using the Dunlop method.

Are any chemicals or synthetic materials added to your mattresses?

No. At dormiente, we do not use synthetic foams, chemical flame retardants, or unnecessary additives in our mattresses. As a Germany Green Brand Award winner, our products are independently tested and certified to be free from over 200 harmful substances, including formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals. Since we spend six to eight hours sleeping every day, we believe your sleep environment should be as healthy and natural as possible.

How do I select the right mattress firmness?

Our mattresses feature body-specific 7-zone orthopaedic support systems for both women and men and are available in soft, medium, and firm comfort levels. During a personalised mattress consultation, our sleep specialists will assess your body profile, sleeping position, comfort preferences, and any pain points to recommend the most suitable mattress and pillow combination.

Do latex mattresses require flipping or rotating?

Yes. Our 7-zone mattresses are symmetrical in design and can be rotated and flipped regularly. We recommend rotating or flipping your mattress every six months to promote even wear, maintain hygiene, and extend its lifespan.

How do I maintain my latex mattress?

To maintain optimal comfort and support, rotate or flip your mattress every six months, for instance, in June and December. Our symmetrical mattress design allows all four orientations to be used: front and back, as well as head and foot. This helps distribute wear evenly and prolongs the life of your mattress.

How do I clean and care for a latex mattress?

Our organic cotton & wool mattress covers are removable for easy maintenance. You may vacuum the surface regularly or use baking soda to deodorise the fabric.

Please avoid steam cleaning, as moisture can become trapped within the thick organic cotton quilting. Professional dry cleaning is acceptable, but the covers should never be machine washed, as this may cause shrinkage.

To maximise longevity, rotate or flip your mattress regularly. For Queen and King-sized mattresses, simply unzip the cover and rotate or flip the latex cores. Single-sized mattresses can be flipped as a complete unit.

Natural latex is inherently resistant to dust mites, mould, and mildew. However, latex should never be exposed to direct sunlight, as ultraviolet rays can cause premature deterioration.

Do I need a special bed base for a latex mattress?

A flexible slatted bed base is strongly recommended, as it allows the mattress to contour properly and perform at its best. Solid plank bases restrict flexibility and can make the mattress feel firmer while reducing its ergonomic benefits, and are also poor in ventilation for our humid weather.

Does natural latex have any off-gassing?

No. Natural latex mattresses from dormiente contain no synthetic foams or chemical additives that produce off-gassing. Our products are made from natural and organic materials and are tested to ensure a healthy sleeping environment.

Is latex mattress suitable for people with allergies?

Yes. Natural latex is naturally resistant to dust mites, mould, mildew, and bacteria without the use of chemical treatments. Combined with our rigorous testing standards, this makes dormiente mattresses an excellent choice for allergy sufferers.

Can someone be allergic to natural latex?

Latex allergy is generally a contact allergy. Reactions are most commonly associated with latex gloves, balloons, or other products that may contain chemical additives. Modern latex manufacturing processes significantly reduce allergy risks.

In addition, the latex core is fully enclosed within mattress covers, protectors, and bedding, limiting direct skin contact during sleep.

What is your mattress warranty?

Should I choose a 190cm or 200cm mattress length?

European 200cm mattress lengths have become increasingly common in Singapore and align with international sizing standards. At dormiente, both Singapore and European mattress sizes are available without price differences.
